Starting a Company in Mauritius: Step-by-Step in 2026

Starting a Company in Mauritius: Step-by-Step in 2026

From name reservation to first invoice — the complete incorporation checklist.

Step 1: Choose your structure

Domestic company, GBC, AC, LLP, sole trader — each has different tax, substance and reporting profiles. Get advice before you file.

Step 2: Name reservation

Reserve your name with the Corporate & Business Registration Department (CBRD) via MauritiusTradeEasy — takes 1-2 business days.

Step 3: Incorporation

File Form 1 with constitution and director/shareholder details. Standard incorporation takes 3-5 working days.

Step 4: Tax registration

Register for TAN (Tax Account Number) with the MRA. If turnover will exceed Rs 6m, register for VAT immediately.

Step 5: Bank account

Domestic banks require full KYC on directors and UBOs. Budget 2-4 weeks. Digital banks are faster but limited.

Step 6: Office and staff

For GBCs, physical office and locally-hired staff satisfy substance. For domestic companies, a registered office address suffices.
